Township Committee members and contact information
TAG stands for Transparency and Accountability in Government. We are a growing, non-partisan group of Mendham Township citizens who share a common interest in encouraging our local governing body the Mendham Township Committee to demonstrate these qualities. Together we are bringing transparency and accountability in local government, helping them respond to the needs of the people of Mendham Township.
The construction of the new Emergency Services Building--long delayed, over budget, and fraught with problems--along with the purchase of the Pitney Farm property (for, as we were told by the Township Committee, the purpose of Open Space, but for which five acres were actually acquired at taxpayer expense for the purpose of developing a new municipal complex) have sent up a red flag to dozens and dozens of Township residents. These actions by the Committee signaled to Mendham Township voters and taxpayers that the Committee has not regarded its obligation to inform or seek input from the citizenry as paramount. The TAG group is working to shine a bright light on this apparent lack of transparency and accountability by the Mendham Township Committee with the intention of driving real change into our local government.
Fundamentally, we are seeking three outcomes:
